VENTILATION DESIGN: POSITIVE INPUT VENTILATION IMPROVE INDOOR AIR QUALITY

In addition to the 112 pints of moisture that an average family produces per week through cooking, bathing, ironing and breathing, a concoction of other contaminants is present in the air within our homes.

These can have a detrimental effect on the fabric of our homes and the health of our families. Stale, contaminated air is trapped causing streaming windows, which ultimately leads to musty smells, dampness and mould growth.

The solution is Positive Input Ventilation (PIV) or MIV®. The EnviroVent positive ventilation units are sophisticated whole home ventilation and condensation control units. By drawing in fresh, filtered and clean air from outside, the units gently ventilate the home from a central position on a landing in a house or the central hallway in a flat or bungalow.

Moisture laden air is diluted, displaced and replaced to control humidity levels around 55%. This significantly reduces or eliminates surface condensation, the main cause for mould growth. With lower humidity levels, dust mite populations are also substantially reduced to provide a significant improvement in the health of asthma sufferers and general indoor air quality. Positive Input Ventilation is also available for flats and apartments

ELECTRICAL DESIGN: CABLE BASICS CONDUCTORS

Visit Allied Wire & Cable at http://www.awcwire.com - There are many components that go into an electrical cable, from the conductor, to the insulation, to any shielding or jacketing it may have. Arguably, the most important component is the conductor, because without it, you don't have a cable.

The conductor is at the center of the cable, and it carries the electrical signal from point A to point B. While that is the simplest definition, a lot goes into making and choosing the proper conductor for a particular cable. You need to choose the material, and any applicable coating. And what about stranding, or do you need solid? All of these choices are important when deciding on what conductor you want.

You can choose copper, silver, nickel, silver or nickel plated, or a variety of high strength alloys as your conductor material. Each of these options has its own benefits and limitations on where they should be used.

After choosing a conductor material, you need to choose between solid or stranded. Solid simply means your conductor will be one piece of metal, while stranded is a bunch of smaller pieces held together, which increases the flexibliity of the wire.

If you choose stranded, you need to choose your laying options: bunched, unilay or rope lay. The lay will determine how the strands are configured around each other.

ART: AUDIBLE COLOR

audible color is an audio-visual instrument. Sound is generated based on color detected by a camera. Red, green and blue correspond with certain music notes. When the colors are mixed, the resulting secondary colors produce different notes. The size of the colors influences the volume and frequency of the notes played. Color detection and sound generation were created and are controlled using Processing code.

ART: THE WORLD LARGEST ARTISTIC RAIN WATER MOSAIC BY ARTIST BELO

To raise awareness among the general public about the global clean water crisis, the artist Belo created an image composed of 66,000 cups of colored rainwater simulating levels of impurities found in water all over the planet. This major work of 3,600 square feet, representing a fetus in the maternal womb, emphasizes the necessity of water, even before birth, for each living person.

Fun Facts: 66,000 compostable and biodegradable cups, 15,000 liters of colored rainwater, 1 kg of vegetable dye, more than 100 volunteers, 62 hours of work, placed end to end the 66,000 cups would measure 5.2 km long.
